We didn’t have any specific plans in Milano for this morning, as we knew we were leaving this afternoon.
We spent the morning packing and looking at places to stay in our next location.

The main excitement for the morning was a visit from the plumber…

Short backstory: When we had our first showers at the hotel we discovered the shower drain wasn’t working properly. So, the good patrons we are, we let reception know right away and they said they would organise someone to come and fix it for us.

Anyway, we were in the middle of packing when there was a solid knock on the door. Behind the knock was a little, old, Italian man. He couldn’t speak a word of English, and of course our Italian was very limited, so there we were trying to communicate with each other via the google translate app – this was a challenge in itself because I think to him it seemed like we could understand everything he was saying, so he spoke very fast.  Eventually we figured out he was the plumber and was there to check the drain.

Once we left the hotel we knew we needed to find some food, as we weren’t sure when we would next get to eat.
We did our usual thing and looked on google maps for the best rated food places in our area and started walking. What a wild goose chase that turned into until we realised the place we were looking for didn’t actually exist anymore.

Time was getting tight so we turned back towards the hotel (we had to go back that way to the metro station anyway) and stopped at a little pizza place on the way. It was a cute little family owned pizzeria, complete with the kids all playing and drawing at the tables, and not only was it delicious but it was cheap too – we had avoided paying the ‘tourist tax’ we were warned about (some businesses, particularly restaurants, charge a lot extra for tourists just because they can).

After lunch we caught the train to…… Venezia!
It still feels like some kind of dream that we are here, experiencing all these incredible places, half way around the world.

It was quite a long train ride, but the Italian countryside is very beautiful.

We booked our accommodation en route and here we are, in Venezia (heart eyes).
