Started with a sleep in, the alarm stopped us at 7, but we relaxed until closer to eight (still not a full nights sleep for DJ, awake @ 3am).
Ian M prepared a delish breakfast of chicken and bacon omelette with spinach and yummy things, fresh semi-cooked buns with spreads (spicy cream cheese & tomato + the usual’s -butter, jam ect), before we packed up, loaded our gear and theirs into their little car (VW polo) and set off towards the cabin!
Tunnels! So many of them and they are awesome, with lanes, and other tunnels which merge on and off.
The tunnels are long and there are lots! Off to see a big one which connects to a pretty bridge tomorrow.
Ian mentioned it get annoying switching sun glasses on an off between the bright sunlight and the dim tunnels when you wear prescription glasses.
Lunch stop at McDs. Big mac tastes the same, Jades chicken burger was nice though and they have a cool recycling centre.
Carried on to Kiwi supermarket and stocked up for the weekend. Lots of yummy things. Tacos for tea, par cooked bread and cold meat for breakfast, chocolate and snacks in-between.
The cabin is beautiful, after working out how to turn everything on we settled down to relax.
Jade pulled out the switch and DJ + Ian went for a wander down to the road snapping a few photos on the way.
Heading back to the cabin, Ian drove to pick up Lyn who had caught a ride most of the way to the cabin after work and DJ + Jade cooked up the tacos and rested.
Raspberry’s and (polish) blueberry’s with cream and chocolate for dessert! Jades first time with fresh raspberry’s -need to sort this out when we get back to NZ!
Note: Norwegian berries are delicious because of the plentiful daylight hours in summer and the cooler weather meaning a longer ripening time.
